Every bride dreams of radiant, glowing skin on their wedding day, and achieving that look is all about the right products, techniques, and layering. As a makeup artist, I’ve perfected the process for a luminous, natural-looking bridal finish that enhances your skin’s beauty without looking heavy or textured. Let’s dive into my step-by-step approach to creating that bridal glow that will photograph beautifully and last all day.

Step 1: Prep for Perfection

A glowy look starts with proper skin prep. For radiant skin, hydration is your best friend. One of my favorite products for this step is the Natasha Denona Hygen Skin Glass Serum Primer (enjoy 15%OFF with code LUCREZIAMAPELLIMUA). This serum hydrates, smooths, and preps the skin while creating a lit-from-within glow even before applying makeup. Simply massage a small amount into clean skin, allowing it to absorb fully before moving on to the next step.

For brides with drier skin or those seeking an extra touch of dewiness, I love layering the Danessa Myricks Beauty Oil over the serum. This lightweight oil not only adds hydration but also creates a soft, luminous base that keeps skin looking fresh and supple all day. Gently press it into the high points of the face (cheekbones, forehead, and chin) for that natural radiance.

Pro Tip: Both the Natasha Denona Hygen Serum and the Danessa Myricks Beauty Oil can be mixed directly into your foundation for an all-over luminous finish. This technique ensures your glow is consistent and seamless throughout the entire face.

Step 2: Build the Glow with Liquid and Cream Products

The secret to a radiant skin finish lies in layering cream or liquid products before setting with powder. Start by applying a cream or liquid highlighter to the high points of the face. Some of my go-to options include:

Use your fingers or a soft buffing brush to blend these products seamlessly into the skin. The goal is to create a soft, diffused glow that mimics the way light naturally hits your face.

Step 3: Illuminate Strategically with Powder

While powders can add longevity to your makeup, they can also emphasize pores and texture if overused. To maintain that luminous finish, lightly set your makeup with a translucent powder first, only on areas prone to shine, like the T-zone, and avoid over-powdering the high points of your face which you'll powder instead with a radiant product such as:

These powders blur imperfections while enhancing the glow created by the cream products underneath.

Why Layering Cream and Powder Products Works

Layering cream or liquid highlighters under powder highlighters creates depth and dimension, making your glow appear more natural. Additionally, using less powder on top prevents texture and pores from becoming exaggerated. This is especially important for bridal makeup, where every detail is captured in high-definition photos.

Final Touches

Finish the look with a spritz of a hydrating setting spray to melt all the layers together and boost radiance. Some of my favorites are:

These sprays will ensure your bridal glow lasts from the ceremony to the last dance.

By following these steps and incorporating these products, you’ll achieve a flawless, radiant finish that’s perfect for any bride. If you’re a bride-to-be feel free to reach out for one-on-one lessons or to book my bridal services. Let’s make your special day as radiant as you are!
